As the Queen City of the South celebrates the Feast of the Child Jesus, the Sto. Nino, Beaconhouse St. Paul geared up for the spiritual celebration. The celebration started with the solemn mass celebrated by Fr. Luigi. Fr. Luigi expounded on the examples of the childhood of Jesus. Like innocent children, they are always ready to accept friendship, willing to forgive and generously share to their peers. More importantly, the childhood of Jesus speaks of Jesus’ obedience to the will of the Father. He further added that “we may be like Jesus who is always ready to sacrifice oneself for the sake of the others and abandon Himself to the will of His Father with the guidance of the Blessed Mother Mary.” As the children sang “Batobalani sa Gugma”, Magnet of Love, they held high their Sto. Nino images with hearts of thanksgiving for all the blessings given and at the same time lifted up all their prayers of petitions.
After the mass, the Mini-Sinulog got on its way with the different levels preparing for the presentations. With the teachers kicked-off this year’s festivity with their own interpretation of the Sinulog through the ritual of abundant harvest and answered prayer for rainfall. All have colorfully showcased the cultural and spiritual Sinulog dance with much vibrant like the early Filipinos who paraded the image of the Child Jesus in thanksgiving for a bountiful harvest. With our students gearing up for the beat of the dance, so as their feet in expression of their faith.
